Road trip to Tibet, Day 14---The most fantastic lakes in Tibet

Today we join a day trip group to Two beautiful lakes , I ever said arrived Lhasa does not mean the end , at least go to Yamzho Yumco(羊卓雍措).

From Lhasa to Yamzho Yumco need to drive around 3 hours .Yamzho Yumco is a Lake , is one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet.

In these days ,we receive many Hatta, and we bring them here today , and hang them here , as a blessing.

Maybe the rope too high ,maybe I am too short , I spent a little bit long time to hang them on ~

We have no word to describe the beauty of Yamzho Yumco, it's so clean , so blue , so peace !

You also can pay some money to the Tibetan, and then they will take photo for you with yak. Although they are not Pro , but they have many experience taking photo here for their customers, they know how to take a good photo here .

In Yamzho Yumco, you are not just only can take photo with yak , also the Tibetan Mastiff. If you meet Tibetan Mastiff in outdoor , they are dangerous , but here , they are safe as a big dog.

When we are on the road to the other destination, we saw many many many sheep ~

Our next destination is Puma Yumco(普莫雍措), cause it near the border of China, neighbour on Bhutan , so there has a checkpoint on the road to Puma Yumco, they need to check our identity card .

In winter , Puma Yumco will become a ice lake , you can walk on it , when we arrived ,there was no any step on it ,means we are the first group arrived here today ~

If you come on timing ,maybe you can see the blue ice lake as below , this photo is found on web ,maybe I will go there again.

Today is the last day of the Tibet road trip , I will start another trip for next post ,see ya ~

Road trip to Tibet, Day 13—Bakuo Street ( 八廓街）

Till today , our team already break, just stay our two girls , others cause still have job, need to come back their city, maybe we will not meet each other again, a bit sad.

Me and Jing cause no job, and we thought 💭, we spend so long time to arrive Tibet, arrive Lhasa, that isn’t means the end, Lhasa still have something to explore, maybe next time we come Tibet is many years later, we can’t come back now, at least go to the lake Yamzho Yumco！

We book the day trip to the lake Yamzho Yumco tomorrow, and today, we will explore Bakuo Street(八廓街), which a famous old street in Lhasa!

Bakuo Street is a round street around the Jokhang Temple(大昭寺), when you walk in this street , you will find all people walk on one way , no one walk opposite.

That's because after the ancient King of Tibet build the Jokhang Temple, many the Tibetan walk around the Temple for blessing, and then the road around the Jokhang Temple became Bakuo Street .

Till now many Tibetan still blessing around this street , and all of them walk follow the clockwise ,the tourist also follow them ,when you walk in this street , you can see many pilgrimage Tibetan like below .

When we arrived Bakuo Street, there was snowing ❄️, have a moment ,I felt I was came back to the ancient time !

A famous butter tea shop in Bakuo Street , they still keep the old selling method, when you walk in , you can see many local people also like to drink here .

Although here is so famous ,but their tea is not expensive. You can buy by cup , 1 cup just 1 CNY.

You also can buy by pot , a pot like below just 10 CNY , around 10 cup , that means the same price as by cup ,but if buy by pot , you need to pay a deposit , around 20 CNY, when you return the pot , they will return you the deposit.

The sweet butter tea really tasty , as I ever mentioned , butter tea have two taste ,one is salty , one is sweet , I don't like salty ,but I like sweet so much ~

Another famous shop in Bakuo Street is this restaurent named Makye Ame(玛吉阿米), here is selling the Nepal food, but I feel that's a bit expensive .

We have dinner here at night , you can get the most good view for Bakuo Street in this restaurant , especially at night , the lights turn on, no more tourist , a quite ancient street .

And the Central of the street , the most famous Temple --- Jokhang Temple(大昭寺), everyday you come here , you can find many Tibetan are pilgrimage here ,not just day time ,also at night.

Road trip to Tibet , Day 12---The Potala Palace

Last night , to celebrate we arrived Lhasa, we went to Bar and stay till late ,they drunk , as a result , we wake up late today.

The main point of today is visit The Potala Palace . 7th century , the king of Tibet in order to marry with the princes of Nepal and Princes Wencheng(文成公主) of Tang Dynasty, so build this Palace .
17th center , the 5th Dalai Lama re-build the Palace, and then here became the living house of the Dalai Lamas.

If you want to visit the Potala Palace , need to make the reservation on web . The visitor limit per day is around 2300,so in May to October , you need to make reservation early ,otherwise may be you need to change your plan.

Once walk in Potala Palace, there is a Treasure hall of Potala next to the entrance ! The Museum is not allow to take photos , so...just visit by yourselves .

Some of the wall make by the reed , and I heard that ,the wall of Potala Palace is use honey and milk to paint the walls , maybe you can taste it , a honey Palace!

Want to arrive the central of Palace , you need to climb a long stairs , that's tired !

Here is the white palace, some Lamas living inside , when you visit , you will meet them. outside is allow to take photo , but inside not allow.

We stay inside for around 1 hour , there is many josses, confucian classics , and lamas learning inside.
Outside the Potala Palace, Prayer wheels are rounded the wall .

The street next to the Potala Palace , some shops selling the butter , the butter are big, like the big cheese , looks delicious .

And Chinese fries , just 5 CNY you can buy a bag , they will mix some salt and spicy powder, tasty !

Now we talk about how to take a special photo for the Potala Palace .
At the opposite of Potala Palace , there is a Yaowang Mountain, walk to the top , with you 50 CNY , you can take a picture as below .

Road trip to Tibet , Day 11---Tibetan Restaurant and Food

Good morning , nice day again ! The flowers reflect our upbeat mood ,today we will arrive Lhasa, the capital of Tibet ,finally ~

We arrived a snow mountain , where we really can step on the snow ! I wait this moment for a long time ~(in my hometown , there is no snow in a year ! so when I see the snow , I become crazy !)

We arrive Lhasa at around 8 pm , a long long long high way , so ... the day time we spent on the road !

The hotel is very clean and beautiful , below is our room, although there are three bed , but actually , just 2 people living in this room, other three guys live in another triple room.

Dinner time ~ we go to a famous Tibetan restaurant for dinner !

The local animals in Tibet , Bos grunniens (left) and Tibetan Mastiff (right), I saw the real bos grunniens on the road to Tibet , but never for Tibetan Mastiff, and I don't want to meet it too , I scare dogs , it is horrible than dogs, their tooth are so long and sharp.

Some Tibet road trip maps on their menu, where I plan to explore next time, so mark it down . Tibet is so big and maybe many people just know Lhasa, so many place hiding behind our sight .

And Tibetan meal , if you arrive Tibet , must taste the Tibetan meal , other place can not find this .

Roasted barley flour(糌粑), a local food in Tibet , Tibetan treat it as the main food in a meal , made by hulless barley .

Three drinks ,the yellow one is tea, the white one is barley wine, the right one is sweet buttered tea.

At the first day of the road trip , we taste the salty buttered tea, we don't like it , today we taste the sweet one, it's like the milk tea, we like this taste !

After meal , the waitress will lead you to a store in the restaraurant , where seems a museum, store many antique, everything with a story .

This ganodorma have more than one thousand years old .

This is an ancient animal lived in ocean , the owner said , they ever use it as an ashtray till someone tell her its value.

The owner told us , her ancestors were worked for delivery , they used carriages to delivery things or people , below cases and swords and other things were used at that time .

In Tibet , bestowed a Hatta is the highest etiquette , that means the host treat you as a distinguished visitor.
