Road trip to Tibet , Day 11---Tibetan Restaurant and Food

Good morning , nice day again ! The flowers reflect our upbeat mood ,today we will arrive Lhasa, the capital of Tibet ,finally ~

We arrived a snow mountain , where we really can step on the snow ! I wait this moment for a long time ~(in my hometown , there is no snow in a year ! so when I see the snow , I become crazy !)

We arrive Lhasa at around 8 pm , a long long long high way , so ... the day time we spent on the road !

The hotel is very clean and beautiful , below is our room, although there are three bed , but actually , just 2 people living in this room, other three guys live in another triple room.

Dinner time ~ we go to a famous Tibetan restaurant for dinner !

The local animals in Tibet , Bos grunniens (left) and Tibetan Mastiff (right), I saw the real bos grunniens on the road to Tibet , but never for Tibetan Mastiff, and I don't want to meet it too , I scare dogs , it is horrible than dogs, their tooth are so long and sharp.

Some Tibet road trip maps on their menu, where I plan to explore next time, so mark it down . Tibet is so big and maybe many people just know Lhasa, so many place hiding behind our sight .

And Tibetan meal , if you arrive Tibet , must taste the Tibetan meal , other place can not find this .

Roasted barley flour(糌粑), a local food in Tibet , Tibetan treat it as the main food in a meal , made by hulless barley .

Three drinks ,the yellow one is tea, the white one is barley wine, the right one is sweet buttered tea.

At the first day of the road trip , we taste the salty buttered tea, we don't like it , today we taste the sweet one, it's like the milk tea, we like this taste !

After meal , the waitress will lead you to a store in the restaraurant , where seems a museum, store many antique, everything with a story .

This ganodorma have more than one thousand years old .

This is an ancient animal lived in ocean , the owner said , they ever use it as an ashtray till someone tell her its value.

The owner told us , her ancestors were worked for delivery , they used carriages to delivery things or people , below cases and swords and other things were used at that time .

In Tibet , bestowed a Hatta is the highest etiquette , that means the host treat you as a distinguished visitor.

Road trip to Tibet, Day 10—leave Medog

The next day , we left Medog by the same road, " the death road" again .

Last night , there was raining for whole night, our leader worried the road will be stop for traffic , because normally , if there have a heavy rain may cause the mud-rock flow, then the road from Medog to the outside world would be closed for a few days, if rain for few days , the road may closed for a long time.

But fortunately , the road still open , so we can leave and keep our schedule .

The road is so wonderful to drive!

If you have a favor car, and you also want to go to Medog, I suggest you rent a car, then your heart ❤️ will not so pain when you drive on this road!

But our leader said , he feel that worth, his car was used in a valuable way!

Every time we watch out or walk out the car, we are afraid does anywhere have the leech ! When they go to toilet at outdoor, we would remind them be careful of the leech ! They would said " Stop !" Haha !

An ice cream with salty egg taste , my first time eat an ice cream with this taste !

We are now arrive to the magic tunnel again, the weather is so cold here that the car window fogged up , outside is snowing .

We leave Medog finally, we through the death road twice safely , good luck for us ! Please admire our car below~

Dinner time , a delicious meal after a long trip ,the third picture below is a food call glutinous rice cake (糍粑), tasty , it taste like our New Year cake , my grandmother made every year in my childhood .

This night we live in a hostel , our leader said " I never lead a team want to live in hostel ,just you , last night live in a 5 people room, today live in hostel , weird team !"
Actually , in our team just me ever stay in hostel , others never , they want to get an experience ! And they feel like living together , like a family ~

Tomorrow we will arrive Tibet ! Cheers ~

Road trip to Tibet , Day 9---Hell?

Last night ,we discuss something for a long time, from dinner discuss to mid-night .

What we discussing ? If you focus on my post before , you should know I am join a small group to Tibet , normally , the schedule was set up , should not allow to change.

But during these days, we develop a friendship with each other from strangers, and our leader said he want to go to Medog(墨脱)---the only one city didn't connect traffic way in China.

We also ever heard about this place ,and we all forward it . Why ? Cause we always see it in some hiking post , the hiking road to Medog is dangerous .

First , there always have mud-rock flow, second ,the hiking road is in the ancient forest , there is many leech anywhere, when it touch you , it will fasten on you and suck your blood ! So scare !!!(I don't want to put the leech's photo here , because they are so horrible, if you are interest ,please search on website.)

So we though , if our leader want to drive to there , we must follow , then we don't need to walk through the leech forest ! And if we won't go this time , maybe we won't go forever.

Our leader is under a travel company , he can't decide to change the schedule by his will ,so we persuade him for a long time ! In these days ,we never so united like today.

In order to avoid our leader change his mind , we wake up early in the morning ,the hotel under a strong fog .

Medog with a special weather , we drive from Bome(波密) to Medog, it will go through a tunnel, before the tunnel ,the weather can be snowing, but once pass the tunnel , you can find a tropical rain forest !

And once go through the tunnel , the view like below , a forest with strong fog.

On these road , is difficult to find a resident house, and we found one and stop here for a rest .

They sell the ganoderma like selling the vegetable . as I know ,the ganodermas are very expensive , they have so many store .

The road to Medog is very dangerous, if raining ,there maybe cause med-rock flow, even not raining, the road also dangerous. It have another name called "the death road ". please see below video.

Although the road is dangerous, but because that , Medog keep it's ancient forest , we can take some good shot during the trip .

We arrive a small village , which far away from any other village, we just can stay here for lunch , otherwise , maybe we just can have dinner direct when arrive Medog.

There houses in special style , and the village under strong fog.

Their life are very peace, some of them have a small shop , selling their vegetable or some fruit ,or other food, they don't care does anyone will buy it , they just do anything they want to do .

There have many banana trees, the tours like to buy some banana here , said tasty .

Drive for around 7 hours ?I forgot , I just remember a long time , but not a long distance ,we finally arrive Medog.

In my previous imagine , no traffic road connect Medog , that should be means Medog is an ancient town, keep an old life style , but when arrive ,found that there just like the normal town.

Although that , I still enjoy the process for drive through "the death road" , we finish a gold in my list .

Below picture is somewhere in Medog, the mountain is surrounded by a river , and on top of it , there is a village , how a magical place.

At night , our 5 people live in one room , that seems come back to school time , living in the dormitory.

This is a famous food in Medog , called Chicken stone pot (石锅鸡), it use a stone pot to cook the food, inside of cause with chicken , expect that , also have some medicinal materials.

And we also buy some food for snack, play games, a funny night .

Road trip to Tibet , Day 8(#2)---Midui Glacier

After lunch , we go to another exciting place ---Midui Glacier(米堆冰川).

It is known as the most beautiful glacier in China, but when I search the most beautiful glacier in China, found that have 6 glacier called the most beautiful glacier, Midui is one of them.

And last time , I ever talk about the Hailuogou, that is another one, so I already been to 2 most beautiful glacier in China, I will try to reach all of them.

From the Tourist Center(the lower circle) to the Horse stable (the middle circle), need to take the shuttle bus, it will go through the ancient village , some people still leaving there ,and when you see the environment , I thing you also want to live here , just watch the video below.

When you arrive the horse stable, you can choose the ride a horse to the Midui Glacier(the top circle), or walk by yourself , their horses are with some gorgeous ornament , that's very Tibetan.

And we choose to walk by ourselves, from the road on the right, and then go back on the left road.

Go forward to the glacier, although it looks so close with us, but actually , hiking on the high altitude really not a easy job, our body in hell, but our eyes in heaven .

We arrived , it is not allow to walk in the glacier, have a bit disappoint , but it's really beautiful.

The most close just as below ,a lake split us and the glacier, the lake still frozen , but already melting , so if walk up , is dangerous .

If you want to walk in the glacier , maybe you can choose Hailuogou , which I ever introduce in my last post.

We walked back , and found a big Mainri Stone district , as I ever said , in Tibet Mainri Stone means Tibetan's next life house, so here is the villa district ~

The horse stable in a good environment, how happiest of the horses.

This night , we live in a hotel with a great view, below photos are take from our room, all photos take here like a picture ~

We are not enough just take picture in our room , we want to walk close it , and we did.

In this hotel , there's a Tibetan dancing party every night , you can choose a Tibetan close and join them , ask them how to dance , they are always pleased to teach you .

Tomorrow, we will go to another amazing place, another kind of amazing , today our body in hell , eyes in heaven , but tomorrow ,both body and eyes in heaven, why we still want to go there? Tell you tomorrow .

Road trip to Tibet , Day 8(#1)---Amazing frozen lake !

Today is an amazing trip again ! Everyday on the road to Tibet give me different surprise !

Do you want to know where is the top photo ? But by my post style , I like to write follow the timeline, so please be patient, I will tell you later ~

Nice weather again, in Tibet , the sky always so blue ,so clean , I have an impulsion to stay here.

Do you see the snow mountain in front ? when we drive close there , we were exciting , we thought we can walk to the top of the mountain , so we get off the car and walked down.

Then we found there is a small stream cut off the road , we walk follow the stream, but can't find a way to go through , so we just can give up and start to make Marnyi Stone(玛尼堆).

What is Marnyi Stone ?Maybe you never heard this name , but you must ever saw them .

Our leader told us, marnyi stones for Tibetan are their next world houses , the larger marnyi stone means their next world houses large, so we are trying to make a big next world houses.

Our next stop is here !!!! The amazing frozen lake !!! I never think I can get this view in my life , the lake is so beautiful, so blue , so amazing !!!

This lake called Ranwu Lake(然乌湖), it have a upper lake and a lower lake , both frozen at that time ,but I feel the upper lake is more beautiful,

If you want to see the lake when it's frozen, you need to come before April , we arrive here at mid-April , the ice already melting , so earlier is better , although that's a bit cold .

The lake is so large , so from the upper lake to the lower lake need to drive a few minute .

A part of the lower lake already melt, but it still very blue , that's why when it frozen , the ice lake so beautiful ~
